It is a non-competitive, flexible, and challenging personal development program designed to equip young people with life skills, build confidence, and encourage community engagement. It is recognized globally by employers and educational institutions.

The program is open to all young people in Bermuda between the ages of 14 and 25, regardless of their background, physical ability, or interests.

There are three progressive levels of the Award: Bronze: For those aged 14 and older. Silver: For those aged 15 and older. Gold: For those aged 16 and older.

To achieve an Award, participants must complete activities across four core sections (plus a fifth for Gold): Service: Volunteering time to benefit the local community. Skills: Developing personal interests, hobbies, or practical and social skills. Physical Recreation: Participating in sports, fitness, or physical activities to improve health. Adventurous Journey: Planning, training for, and undertaking a team expedition or journey in an unfamiliar environment. Residential Project (Gold Level Only): Broadening horizons by working and living with people outside a normal peer group for a set period.

Registration: Young people can register as participants through schools, open Award centers, or directly via the organization. Online Record Book (ORB): Participants use the online ORB system.

Yes. The program relies heavily on adult volunteers, leaders, mentors, and assessors. Adults interested in supporting Bermuda’s youth can sign up through the website to volunteer.
